Greater Prince William Community Health Center Receives $556,000 Federal Grant

The Greater Prince William Community Health Center has received a $556,667 Affordable Care Act grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Congressman Gerry Connolly said today. Read more.

The Greater Prince William Community Health Center has received a $556,667 Affordable Care Act grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Congressman Gerry Connolly said today.

The Prince William center funding is part of $101 million in grants awarded today by HHS to 164 health centers across the nation, according to HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell.

“The Greater Prince William Community Health Center and other community health centers across the Commonwealth fill an important void in health care for tens of thousands of hard-working Virginia families by providing lower-cost access to quality medical services,” Connolly said.

The Prince William health center was founded in 2004 and provides laboratory, family and internal medicine services, physical and well-woman exams, pharmacy assistance, prenatal, dental and behavioral health care. It also assists residents seeking to access health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The center was started when nearby hospital emergency rooms were overflowing and affordable health care options in Prince William, Manassas and Manassas Park were limited.

In 2011, Connolly received a national award from the National Association of Community Health Centers honoring his advocacy for community health facilities across the state.
