Connolly Statement on MWAA Silver Line Announcement
Washington, DC,
April 27, 2015
Congressman Gerald E. Connolly's statement following the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's Silver Line announcement. Read more.
“While today’s news from MWAA is disappointing, nevertheless this project continues forward. The construction delays on Phase II are primarily the result of a brutal winter and necessary safety-related design changes. “While we all want to see the Silver Line completed as soon as possible, it’s more important to get it right and make safety our top priority. “The Phase I cost increase is just 2.6% of the Phase I project cost and the project remains within the federally-approved budget limits. I am pleased that toll road users will not bear the cost of these changes, particularly after the Congressional delegation helped secure federal financing to freeze tolls for 5 years." |
