Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) received the Fed 100 Award this week at a ceremony in Washington for his advocacy on behalf of the federal workforce, his bipartisan efforts to promote information technology reform and cybersecurity improvements, and his expertise in government acquisition and procurement issues.

Connolly was one of only two congressmen among the 100 award recipients from government and the private sector to receive the Fed 100 award.
The other congressional recipient was House Oversight & Government Reform (OGR) Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA).  Connolly, Ranking Member of the OGR Committee’s Subcommittee on Government Operations, has sponsored two important bills with Issa that strengthen cybersecurity programs and reform the way the federal government’s purchasing process to improve efficiency and cost savings.
In receiving the award, Connolly was recognized as the “Fed’s Champion” for “championing the causes of federal pay and benefits.”  Connolly was also singled out as “one of the few lawmakers on Capitol Hill who cares about government acquisition and procurement issues.”
Connolly’s efforts to promote bipartisanship in a divided Congress were also cited by the sponsors:  “In an era of partisanship and rancor, he has been willing to reach across the aisle to work on new legislation.”
The awards were presented by FCW magazine, a publication about federal technology policy and business, headquartered in Northern Virginia’s technology corridor.
