The Alliance for Retired Americans has awarded Congressman Gerry Connolly a 100 percent positive rating for his votes in the U.S. House of Representatives on issues that impact older Americans and retirees.

The organization, with more than 4 million members, rated the 435 members of House and 100 senators on votes concerning Social Security, Medicare, health care, and federal programs that provide services to seniors.

“Virginia seniors know they have a true friend and fighter in Gerry Connolly,” Alliance President Barbara Easterling (a Fairfax resident) said today.  “He’s been on the front lines for us working to make Social Security and Medicare stronger for current and future retirees. His 100% pro-retiree voting record shows he listens and responds to the needs of older Americans.”

Connolly was one of only three members of Virginia’s congressional delegation to receive the Alliance’s top score.

“I firmly believe our nation must honor the commitments we have made to our senior citizens and I have and will continue to vote to make sure we do,” Connolly said. “I appreciate that the Alliance for Retired Americans has recognized my work to insure that seniors can retire with dignity and have access to the programs they need.”
