Congressman Connolly issued the following statement on today's OPM's announcement to provide identity theft protection for the more than 21.5 million individuals, and their families, whose sensitive personal information was exposed to this data breach. Read more.

Congressman Connolly issued the following statement on today’s OPM’s announcement to provide identity theft protection for the more than 21.5 million individuals, and their families, whose sensitive personal information was exposed to this data breach:

“Our dedicated federal employees are the victims and must be priority number one for OPM and the Department of Defense.
 
“While welcome, today’s announcement has been too long in coming. Meanwhile, almost 22 million victims have suffered the understandable anxiety about their credit status and their privacy.

“Moving forward, OPM and the Department of Defense must work expeditiously to ensure those affected are notified and protected.”
