Connolly Calls for Additional Resources to Process SIV Applications

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) released the following statement:

“As many at-risk Afghans remain in Afghanistan or third countries, the United States must do all that is within its power to help those who assisted us during the 20-year engagement. For years, before the fall of Kabul, Congress had shifted resources away from processing and conducting SIV interviews to create a massive backlog of SIV applicants. I was proud to join my colleagues in supporting the Afghan Adjustment Act, which would provide work permits and a path to permanent residency for the thousands of Afghans left in limbo. Passing the Afghan Adjustment Act must continue to be a critical and immediate bipartisan priority for the Congress put resources behind supporting Afghans that worked alongside U.S. forces. America must reclaim its status as a safe haven for the downtrodden and keep its door open to refugees, especially for those Afghans who supported the U.S. Mission in Afghanistan and their family members.”
