Connolly Statement on the Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act
Washington,
December 13, 2023
Today, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) released the following statement ahead of the House’s consideration of the Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, named after his friend and colleague Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA).
“Today, I am proud to stand alongside my friend and esteemed colleague from Virginia, Jennifer Wexton, to pass H.R. 2365, the Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, a crucial initiative that will, for the first time, unite our federal government in a mission to cure and prevent Parkinson’s disease. “I want to express my deepest admiration to Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton for her unwavering bravery and tenacity in leading this charge. After being diagnosed with Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy, type-p (PSP-P), a form of Atypical Parkinsonism, she has rallied her colleagues to the urgency and importance of passing this legislation today. This achievement is indicative of the commitment she has shown to her constituents throughout her time in Congress. Thanks to her leadership, we will make significant strides towards finding a cure and improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson's disease.” |
