Connolly Statement on Governor Northam's Announcement of I-95 Improvements In Prince William County

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, released the following statement on today’s announcement by Governor Ralph Northam concerning transportation improvements to I-95 in Prince William County.

“I welcome the announcement of new investment in what is, by some measures, the worst traffic “hot spot” in the country. That is a dubious distinction we do not want to associate with Northern Virginia, and I heard firsthand during my transportation town hall in Woodbridge just how much the congestion on this stretch of I-95 costs commuters and drivers in Northern Virginia.

“With an average of 23 traffic jams per day and 33 minutes of backups that average 6.5 miles, this congestion costs people time with their families and money out of their pocket. This investment is long overdue, and I commend the Governor for securing this agreement.”
